I’m forgiven and can start again.
A mistake is something I can face honestly, not a name I have to live under.
What this means for me
John connects forgiveness with honest confession. I can tell God the truth instead of hiding behind excuses or getting stuck in shame. His faithfulness, not my ability to punish myself enough, is the basis of forgiveness.
A new start does not erase consequences or mean the person I hurt must immediately trust me again. I can apologise, repair what I safely can, and ask for help changing a pattern. Grace makes taking responsibility possible without calling myself hopeless.
A little truth to hold onto
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”— 1 John 1:9 · KJVRead in context ↗
